It's Safety Training Season! Use Google Tasks to help you remember.

It's that time of year again! It's time for safety training. Although not the most enjoyable thing in the world, it's something we all have to endure. Being in "summer vacation mode", it can be difficult to remember to get the training done. Since this endeavor is tedious, it's difficult to stay motivated as well as find time to get it done. Here are my tricks for remembering and scheduling time to complete this task.

Check your inbox for the email seen below. Copy the link circled below.

In Gmail, click the Google Tasks button on the right side panel. With Google Tasks open, click Add a task.

Title the task "Safety Training". Paste the link in the details. From there, click Date/time to schedule daily reminders for Safety Training.

Choose the day when you want the daily reminder begin. After that, click repeat.

Set the time for when you want to be reminded each day. Click OK when done.

Immediately, you'll see this appear on Google Tasks on the right side panel of Gmail. I recommend downloading the Google Tasks app. It's free on iOs and Android. Any task set on your computer will sync to your phone.

When Google Tasks reminds you on the phone or you see it appear in Gmail on your computer, the link will be right there for you to click. No need to fish for the email to find the link or save it as a bookmark. When you are done doing the Safety Training for the day, click the circle next to the task to cross it out. The beauty of this, if you've set it to repeat daily, is that it will reappear in Tasks the next day. When you click the link, it'll take you to what you see below.

Google Tasks is also viewable via Google Calendar. If you don't want to download the Google Tasks app, and you already sync your Calendar to your phone, be sure to turn on Tasks in Google Calendar. This will allow you to view Google Tasks in Calendar and receive reminder notifications.

I hope you all have a great remainder of your summer and look forward to working with you this upcoming school year. Please reach out at any time for support with anything demonstrated in this blog post.
